Setting the Moon on Fire
In this painting I pay homage to the cherished moments sitting by a Summer campfire—where the blaze of fire mirrors the warm glow of the summer moon. It's a celebration of connection, tradition, and the beauty of gathering under starry skies.
Winner of the Carson Arthur Award at the 2025 Juried Art in the County
Presented annually, the Carson Arthur Award is given to an artist whose work represents or evokes nature in an innovative and original way. From a shortlist of three finalists selected by Carson Arthur, the final recipient is chosen by a panel of jurors.
The award includes a $500 monetary gift to the artist, along with a $500 donation to a local non-profit organization advocating for environmental protection—chosen by the winning artist.
I’m thrilled to direct that donation to the Kenhtè:ke Seed Sanctuary and Learning Centre, located in the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. The KSSLC is dedicated to growing heirloom and Indigenous seeds, including those specific to the Rotinonshyón:ni, and ensuring the availability of healthy, local seeds for the next seven generations. Their mission: keeping seeds in the hands of our communities.
