Fire

The hearth of home and heart is where Fire is kept, warming and holding: where eternal stories are told, song cycles are sung, bread is baked and broken through the ages. The circle of Fire lights creativity, fuels continuity and transforms energy. We know too that Fire, untended, rages, ravages and renews.

Wildfires are destructive forces, but they can occur naturally. Because of this, certain plants and animals have evolved to depend on periodic wildfires for ecological balance. Prescribed burns can mimic the benefits of wildfires while also lowering the risks associated with larger, uncontrolled fires.

This new series explores the many roles fire plays in our home, our hearts and on our land.
