Conversations with Nature - Group Show- June- November 2021
Main Gallery- Melt Studio and Gallery, Prince Edward County, Ontario
In a time where we have turned to our screens and hibernated in our homes, it has become essential for us to make time to tend to our relationship with nature. In the Main Gallery, six selected artists demonstrated their relationship with the ethereal and budding beauty of nature through their art. Hanging on the walls and from the ceilings, you will find sculptures made of salvaged items from the shores of Point Petre, poems and expressive ceramics complimenting oil and wax paintings of lush landscapes.
Each varied interpretation of the vast outdoors mingles together to create a place of peace and harmony. Artists Krätschmer and Lister use found and salvaged materials from the earth in their artwork, while artists Piller, Cape, Grainger and Wallis use nature as their guided muse.
Participating artists: Janice Brant, Christopher Cape, Kiki Carr, Mary Ann Grainger, Andreas Krätschmer, Nina-Marie Lister, Andrea Pille and Susan Wallis.
Little Red- Group Show- June- November 2021
The inaugural Group Show at Melt Studio in the In-Unison Gallery - Curated by Susan Wallis
“LOVE WILL FIND A WAY THROUGH PATHS WHERE WOLVES FEAR TO PREY.” - BYRON
The classic fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood is much more than a children’s story. It carries powerful metaphors and analogies that are applicable to the complexities of adult life.
The earliest origins of this tale can be traced back to an 11th century poem from Belgium. In the 17th century, versions appeared in several European folk tales, including one from Italy called The False Grandmother. The two best known versions are by Charles Perrault, Le Petit Chaperon Rouge and the Brothers Grimm, Rotkäppchen.
I have explored the themes in Little Red Riding Hood in my work for a few years and was excited to invite artists and artisans from a wide range of mediums to join me in Little Red’s journey through the forest. The result is an exhibit teeming with imaginative and whimsical interpretations of this classic fairy tale.
Embrace Little Red’s childlike wonder as you move through our In-Unison Gallery Space. Amidst the poems, paintings, and books you will find delicate paper dioramas hidden in tins and a tea that is as red as the heroine's cloak.
Explorations of fear are exhibited in a photograph of a wooded path and paintings with lunging wolves, while artfully crafted stoneware creatures were inspired by the depths of Ontario forests.
Drawn from talented artists and artisans across Ontario, Little Red explores the strength it takes to overcome the wolves, and find our way through the forest.

Looking Back. Moving Forward. March 2021
This is the title of my new show at Elevation Gallery opening March 27th 2021. During these times of isolation comes the opportunity to reflect on where we are and where we are going. As I a look back over my art practice and my journey into the medium of encaustic painting, I have taken a moment to reminisce. The new pieces in the works for this show are 'looking back' at the many series I have produced over the years. From the early years of my Birch paintings to my Mystical Lakes. From Red Balloons, Red Tents and Red Riding Hood to my Nests and more recently my Mountain and Moon series, I have created this collection of new pieces.
Sometimes one has to ‘look back’ before they can ‘move forward’. Stay tuned for new works and new series as I 'move forward'. -Susan Wallis
