Mountains

“Ascension”, is the newest series that celebrates the majesty of the mountain. I have been visiting Canmore, Alberta yearly now for over 10 years and hesitated in the past in trying to capture the beauty of the mountain range of the Bow Valley. It was only after the commission request of a mountain scene by a new client that I attempted this subject matter. The commission was a success and has subsequently lead to series of mountain paintings. I scraped, I carved, heated, ironed, melted, and polished the surface of the board to reveal and honour the mountain’s greatness and power. I enjoyed immensely finding the mauves and blues in the shadows of these natural monuments.
