Painting of the Month- January 2022

I can't believe January is almost over. I've been so busy planning out the new year, I haven't had the chance to share my painting for the month of January until now. So just under the wire, here it is!  

 The palette of this piece, titled Softly Reflecting, evolved quite differently from what I had originally intended, but that is the wonderful thing about the creative process. In order for it to really work in my opinion, you just have to let things happen. Don't allow yourself to be restricted by any preconceived ideas. 

In the end, I love how the layering of coloured wax turned out in this piece - especially in the soft reflections on the water's surface. It exudes a sense of peace and tranquility, a welcome addition to any home.
